Sula Pop-Up at Maison Gassmann

Sula Pop-Up bei Maison Gassmann
Concentrated Zurich power: For one month, the Zurich design studio Sula will be a guest with an in-store pop-up at the traditional Maison Gassmann at Poststrasse 3 in Zurich.

From September 5th to October 5th, 2024, our customers can look forward to the unique creations of Sula. The design studio was founded in 2012 under the name Schönstaub by designer Nadja Stäubli and stands for distinctive, colorful designs that attract attention far beyond Zurich. The product range includes a versatile selection of carpets, textiles, and home accessories that combine state-of-the-art technology and traditional craftsmanship.

For over 140 years, we have stood for outstanding style, a close relationship with our exclusive clientele, and a unique shopping experience. With this pop-up, we want to complement our range of high-quality clothing with attractive lifestyle and design products, both to introduce an existing customer base to a cool, modern Zurich label and to appeal to a slightly younger clientele.

The pop-up will feature carefully curated Sula rugs and blankets that add that certain something and the necessary splash of color to any home.

"Life is more vibrant in color"

The Zurich design label Sula stands for powerful, colorful and graphic designs on carpets, textiles and home accessories. But who is behind this bold brand? We spoke to CEO and Creative Director Nadja Stäubli.

How did the idea for Sula come about and what makes your brand unique?
I studied photography at the Zurich University of the Arts and wanted to use a different medium for my bachelor's thesis, which is how the first carpet, the Nebula, came about (still a bestseller). Unplanned, a label then organically and slowly emerged with now over 20 collections and a great many products. Since 2022, we have also been developing Studio Sula, our design and interior services. Unique is a big word, but I think our aesthetics coupled with quality and a feel for emerging styles make us special. And at Studio Sula, we have the know-how to implement clients' styles without losing our signature.

As a Zurich native who became self-employed in this city – what makes Zurich special for you and which place inspires you the most?

Zurich is my hometown, my friends here and the cultural offerings inspire me. But I get my biggest inspirations from traveling, as cliché as that may sound.

When your mind is clear and you're not thinking about business, you look at everything with different eyes. But I already have some ideas for Zurich, I would love to make public spaces a bit more colorful.

You founded a successful Swiss company that is internationally recognized – what was your personal biggest milestone in that process?
There are various steps that were really important to me. The hungrier you are, the bigger you want the milestones to be. But overall, all the projects of the last 11 years have brought us to where we are, so all of them are super important to me. But I have clearly manifested very big goals and am ready for them. I want to design for other brands, furnish great projects, and create collections for great collaborations.

How do you think Sula and Maison Gassmann fit together?
Quite clearly: quality. And both contribute to Zurich remaining unique and standing out from other cities with its own brands, stores, and labels.

"Maison Gassmann and Sula are clearly connected by quality. And both help ensure that Zurich remains unique and stands out from other cities with its own brands, stores, and labels."
